SEML firmly believes that by energy conservation & optimization and recycling waste it can help minimize the impact on the environment and at the same time enhance operational efficiency.


We are happy to say that Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd. is making all out and sincere efforts towards control of pollution and conservation /protection of the environment. This stream of efforts comprises installation, modification of pollution control equipments, plantation, imbibing of general awareness about environment conservation, encouraging and motivating employees to make regular efforts towards waste minimization and other environment improving activities/practices, like excellent housekeeping, which has become part of our culture in Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd., in since from the commissioning of the plant.. The above mentioned efforts are not only being made to control pollution but to ensure our commitment towards betterment of environment.


SEML has a dedicated team of experts for identifying areas for energy optimization and conservation. SEML has installed waste heat recovery boilers in its sponge iron plants for utilizing valuable heat energy for generation of steam for power generation. SEML generates approximately 21.5MW of electricity through waste heat. Renewable energy resource such as hydro power is another area where the company is firmly committed. The company has recently commissioned a 4.8 MW hydro power plant in the state of Uttaranchal and 24 MW in the state of Chhattisgarh is in pipeline.


Utilization of Plant waste such as fly-ash, Slag, Iron Ore Fines, Char-Dolochar, another endeavor that the company has taken up aggressively. The company has also installed a state-of-the-art fly ash bricks, blocks & tiles-making facility with a capacity of 30 million bricks annually. Electrostatic Precipitators have been installed with all the sponge iron kilns and steam generators to maintain the pollution within the prescribed limits.
